She blinked at him, barely able to discern him. "Of course I'm ready." She huffed, slipping quietly out into the street. "Its quite busy, especially at night. Lots to do." She commented, glancing back at him.

Ajax slipped through the shadows like a ghost. One moment he would be gone, then there would be a flash of silver, then he would be gone again. He was quite good at this, having had lots of practice. Ajax had kinda told Mercy his job, but not exactly what he did. He was an assasin, really. He went and killed, or disapatched, the really bad guys before they killed the bad guys, or the good guys. Ajax glanced at Mercy, his dark blue eyes glinting slightly as he stepped halfway out of the alleyway into the dim street lights. "I'm ready when you are"

Mercy smiled, giving him no response but simply walking forward easily. She was in an ivory colored blouse, black leggings, and flats. She walked on down the street for a moment before she looked into the busy street, specifically at an intersection. Suddenly, she took off sprinting. A smaller girl, unbeknownst to her parents, was slowly making her across the street. Traffic had not stopped, and a large semi-truck was barrelling toward her. As it came closer to the little girl and her parents finally noticed, Mercy was already diving toward her. She knew she couldn't pull her away in time, so she cradled the girl in her arms and wrapped her wings around the both of them as the truck skidded to a stop. Mercy hadn't been runover, thankfully skidding them down inbetween the tires. Passerby were beggining to scream, the truck driver had launched out, yelling apologies and searching for the pair. Mercy slowly unwrapped her wings, smiling down at the confused little girl. She easily pushed her out from under the truck and stood her up, giving her a gentle push toward her parents. It took them a few moments to come running, and more confused shouts issued about 'The Girl'.

Mercy hid her wings and slipped easily out of the other side of the truck, walking quickly to the wall of a building and turning around. No one looked over. They simply remained confused and astonished. Mercy gave Ajax a wink, shrugging.

Ajax watched the whole scene, worried for a moment... since angels and demons could die twice... but he knew this was literally what Mercy did every day. "That's what you do? Interesting." He half teased, but he meant it. Helping people in that way was something he surely had never thought of.

"You would be quite surprised how many car accidents are preventable. And it usually isn't children, mainly adults and elderly people." She shrugged, turning away from the scene and beginning to walk away. "It's also not usually quite as dramatic as that. Most times, people don't even know why they survived. Just that they did. I also get a sort of... sense, about where something bas is about to happen. It lets me know where im supposed to go, so its rea-" She paused, looking up to see a tall, blonde man with alrge white wings settled on the roof of the building she was against. He was clapping slowly, dropping lightly down in front of her, folding his wings until they dissapeared. "Ah. If it isnt just my favorite angel, Grady." She said sarcastically. G "Oh, theres no need to be so caustic, my love." He said smoothly, walking forward and curving around her as she rolled her eyes. He raised his eyebrows at Ajax, barley able to discern his silhouette. G "Strange choice of company, isn't it, my dear?" He sneered, walking back around to face her and placing his fingers underneath her chin to tilt her head upwards. "The company I keep is no business of yours." She snarled, swatting his hand away and looking off at the other side of the street. "Go do your job."

I'm sorry but I guffawed at the first thought that came to mind when I read that))

Ajax nodded... he probably would be surprised. He understood that Mercy, and other angels, probably helped a lot of people. At the same time Ajax was killing a lot of people... he helped in his own way... and he usually only killed demons, since they were already dead. Ajax glanced up as Mercy did, seeing the blonde man. Even though whoever that was was tall, Ajax still had a solid 5 inches on him. As soon as the angel spoke Ajax had that feeling, the one where his stomach rolled over in disgust and not-so-good thoughts flitted through his mind. -Ah, so there are good demons and bad angels. Who would have known- He thought darkly. Ajax stepped into the light with a glare, folding his arms across his broad chest. "If you keep talking like that in front of me I might just tie your cocky mouth shut and stuff it in a closet." Ajax snapped, his dark blue eyes flashing dangerously. He got angered easily, and this was one of his biggest set offs. He absolutely hated stuck up people, especially since they were usually trying to hurt someone else. Believe it or not, demons were rarely stuck up. Cocky and prideful? Yes. But demons never used that... because they usually had been put down their whole lives, so they saw themselves as a piece of trash. Demons also had their *code* names. Like Grugar's was Hangman, John's was Rooster, Silas's was Playboy, and so on. Ajax was called Bulldog, which fit him quite nicely at times. A lot of them also called him Rex, which also fit, especially... now.

Mercy turned her head to the side, looking at the ground. "Ajax, it's fine. Don't, he'll just-" Grady cut her off. G "No, No. The demon thinks he can give lessons on how horrible I am for being... cocky, wasn't it?" Grady tilted his head in mock thought. G "What is it you do for a living again? Oh, right!" He snapped his fingers and laughed, looking at Mercy. G "He condemns and kills people! Honestly, Mercy, I don't see how you reject me so often and yet, you chose, of all the beings in this world; him? I don't understand." He huffed, staring down at her. Mercy glared up at him. "Yes, well, some beings in this world have a heart, Grady, and lets just say I prefer to be around them than you." Grady made a growling noise and looked up at Ajax. G "You better watch your back, demon." He snarled, his wings appearing again. He took off and was out of sight in moments. Mercy glanced back at Ajax. "I'm... sorry, about him." She sighed.

Ajax was infuriated, but somehow he managed to dump a bucket of water on his brain. Not literally, but there was smoke rising from his shoulders again... and he forced it to disappear with a huff. Too late for Mercy trying to stop him. Ajax watched as the angel put on his own little show, then flew off. He mumbled something under his breath, looking rather subdued... mostly because of what Mercy said. Literally, just one word. *Don't*. Ajax should have stopped, but as usual he didn't listen. "I do not just condemn and kill people" Ajax growled under his breath, but nevertheless he knew the angel was just trying to get to him. Sadly, it usually worked with Ajax. More sadly, whoever did that usually ended up dead with their head on a spike somewhere, but Ajax didn't know if he would do that this time. It would just be proving exactly what the angel said. Maybe he was just a killer. A murderer. "Watch ... MY back?" When the angel said that Ajax actually burst out laughing. "Oh you poor bow-legged billy baby of a boy, you know nothing of what I'm like." Ajax snorted under his breath, almost too low for Mercy to hear. Whoever told Ajax to watch her back... let's just say it usually didn't go too well for them. "Don't apologize, it was my fault for going after the bait. Your job was very interesting but this city noise is getting to me, so I'm going to scoot on out and find a cave somewhere to roast a deer." Ajax said cheerfully, though his eyes didn't lie... he was disturbed and angered by this.

She blinked up at him, biting her lip. "Can I come with you?" She asked quietly, looking up at him with her pale blue eyes twinkling. "Please?" She pleaded, tilting her head.

Ajax actually had to bite back a snappy remark, taking in a slow breath. "If you wish." He said quietly, flaring his wings and flying up into the dark clouds. This was his preferred height of traveling... where no one could see him, swooping through the cloudy mist. Ajax then angled his wings towards the countryside, flying towards the small cave he called his home. He moved a lot, but right now it was his dwelling... for the moment. Ajax flew for a bit before stooping down into a steep dive, his wings folded against his sides. He whistled towards the earth before letting his wings unfurl and fly outwards, catching a bunch of air at once and slowing his motion like he hit a brick wall. Ajax landed in front of the cave and folded in his wings till they disappeared and he looked like a *normal* human. (Not normal, because of what he wears, but normal enough). He then walked into the cave which was pretty bare, but he had dragged a giant tree trunk in there that he had carcved out with his own dagger and made into a sort of bench like thing. It was set against the cave wall as a backrest, then there was a pile of leaves that he usually slept on, and ashes that remained from an obvious spot where he had a fire. Ajax grabbed some tinder and sticks from a pile of them, placing it around where the firepit was and starting a fire rather easily, placing bigger logs on top so it burned for a while
